The Step-1 assessment phase is underway and the outcome of this phase will be communicated on 7 October, 2025.

July 2025: Presentation at ICRC2025 in Geneva, Switzerland
newASTROGAM will be presented at the ICRC2025 conference on 16 July 2025, see the corresponding proceeding.
May 2025: Step-1 proposal submitted
The deadline for Step-1 proposals to the ongoing ESA call for F-class and M-class missions was: 21 May 2025 (12:00 CEST).
April 2025: newASTROGAM collaboration workshop
Participants from various countries met for 2 days at a (hybrid) workshop in Bari to further shape the Step-1 proposal.
March 2025: ESA call opens
On 19th March 2025, ESA has opened its call to the scientific community in ESA's Member States for proposals for both a Fast mission opportunity (to be launched around 2034) and a Medium-size mission opportunity (to be launched around 2041).
